Our History

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) was founded in the early 1800s in the United States. Seeking to move beyond denominational disagreements, the founders envisioned a united church modeled on the New Testament.

Today there are nearly 3,600 congregations that share these characteristics:

• Each congregation is self-governing and calls its own pastor.

• Worship services may be formal or informal, and include lay women and men in leadership.

• Diversity of opinion is common while the authority of Scripture is our goal.

Bailey Road Christian Church    (Disciples of Christ)

Founded May 16, 1954

We first met at Lincoln Elementary School until the first phase of our church was completed in 1961, followed by the education facility in 1973 and our fellowship hall was dedicated in 2009.  Our original sanctuary roof was in the style of a pagoda because Rev. John Dalton, our first full time pastor, had spent several years working in Tokyo.

Through all the changes we continue to praise God for all our blessings!

People become members of our church through affirmation of faith in Jesus Christ and baptism. We  also accept new members through  transfer of membership  and honor all other traditions of Christian baptism.

This is our History but we are excited that our history continues to move forward! The future is bright because of God’s love and grace.
